Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday swore in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as Commissioners, urging them to be team players and contribute to the administration’s ongoing progress across sectors.

Olohungbebe was assigned to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, while Nnafatima took charge of the Ministry of Social Development. The reshuffle also saw Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu move to the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Dr. Mary Arinde assume leadership at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi was appointed Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Transportation, while Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo, formerly of Agriculture and Rural Development, now heads the Ministry of Livestock Development. Dr. Afeez Abolore replaced Adebayo in the Agriculture Ministry, with Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh taking over Solid Minerals after previously leading Social Development.

Speaking after the swearing-in, Governor AbdulRazaq described the appointments as a well-earned elevation from the commissioners’ previous roles as Senior Special Assistants. He emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the administration’s goals.

“In leadership, and especially in public service, the strength of any administration lies in teamwork. Our mission is to collaborate, combine our strengths and ideas, and leave Kwara far better than we met it,” he stated.

He highlighted the government’s measurable progress in public education, healthcare, infrastructure, social inclusion, and economic development, stressing that the new appointees must build on these achievements.

“As you step into your new roles, I urge you to embrace creativity, stay connected with the people, think outside the box, and apply prudence in every decision,” he advised.

The governor congratulated the newly sworn-in commissioners and wished them success in their service to the state.
