Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged citizens of the state to shun divisions and work together for peace, unity, and progress.

In a statewide broadcast to mark the 34th anniversary of the creation of Osun on Wednesday, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance, stressing the need for all stakeholders to put the interest of the state first.

“As your Governor, I reaffirm my unwavering dedication to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance. I invite every citizen—our traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs—to continue to play your part in the development of our state. Let us reject divisions, embrace unity, and place the interest of Osun above all else,” Adeleke said.

The Governor acknowledged the sacrifices of the state’s founding fathers, describing them as the bedrock of Osun’s existence. He noted that anniversaries were not just for remembrance but a call to renewed action towards collective development.

Highlighting achievements, Adeleke said his administration had delivered potable borehole water in all 332 electoral wards, rehabilitated several roads, and embarked on urban infrastructure projects, including roads and a modern flyover. He added that rural electrification was also expanded with the provision of transformers and other materials to communities without electricity.

On healthcare, he noted that the Imole surgical and medical outreach had recorded over 60,000 beneficiaries, while more than 30,000 residents had been enrolled in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS). He also said his government completed the renovation of over 200 primary healthcare facilities across the state.

Speaking on socio-economic development, the Governor said his administration had ensured the regular payment of workers’ salaries, cleared inherited arrears, supported farmers with subsidised fertilizers, tractors, and farm inputs, and empowered citizens to participate in small-scale businesses.

Adeleke added that progress was also being made in education through school renovations and youth empowerment programmes. He maintained that Osun State was steadily evolving into a model for other states through cultural preservation, peace promotion, and inclusive growth.
