Hon. Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, representing Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has presented his mid-term education report, highlighting interventions carried out between 2023 and 2025.

Adeyemi, popularly known as Skimeh, said his programmes focused on strengthening digital literacy, improving infrastructure, and supporting students with learning materials. One of his earliest initiatives in February 2023 was the sponsorship of ICT capacity-building training, during which 150 laptops were distributed.

In May 2023, he commissioned an ICT centre at SPED International Secondary School. Similar projects were later completed at the School of Science, Saabo; Ilora Community Commercial High School, Ilora; and St. Francis Catholic College, Oyo. He also trained 50 constituents in ICT skills, each receiving a laptop.

To promote academic excellence, Adeyemi supported competitions in mathematics and sciences. During the National Association of Oyo Students Mathematics Competition in October 2023, held in honour of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, he donated NECO forms to 20 outstanding participants.

At the same event, he distributed notebooks and textbooks to about 700 students, while the overall winner, Oladoja Judah of SPED International, received a laptop prize. The lawmaker said such initiatives were designed to inspire excellence and nurture future leaders.

In October 2024, Adeyemi commissioned a new block of six classrooms at Community High School, Awumoro, to expand learning facilities. He also launched a scholarship scheme, awarding a federal university scholarship with a cash prize to Miss Aleem Aishat of Fiditi Grammar School, winner of the Oba Adeyemi Mathematics Competition.

Other students were honoured during the 2024 contest. Miss Salawu Faoziyat of Model High School, Miss Oluwaleye Esther of Olivet Baptist High School, and Miss Olayiwola Faizol of Anglican Methodist Grammar School, Apaara, received cash prizes in a debate competition, while about 1,000 students benefited from textbook and notebook donations.

Adeyemi assured constituents that more projects were underway, pledging continued investment in education as the foundation of socio-economic growth in Oyo communities. “We are not resting. More to come. Oyo o ni bajẹ,” he declared.
