Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has expressed profound gratitude to the people of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom for their outpouring of support following the death of his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, on September 26, 2024.
In the speech, titled “We are Perplexed but Not in Despair,” Governor Eno praised his late wife as his prayer partner, counselor, and lifelong supporter.
He shared his grief over her passing, stating that he would miss her deeply. However, he drew strength from his faith, quoting the Bible, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair” (2 Cor. 4:8).
The governor expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and numerous other political and religious leaders for their condolences and personal support.
He also thanked citizens across party lines, traditional rulers, religious groups, and student bodies for their solidarity during this difficult time.
Eno also assured the people that his wife’s initiatives, particularly the “Golden Initiative for All” (GIFA), would continue, and he pledged to maintain his administration’s focus on serving Akwa Ibom with renewed strength.
