Governor Inuwa meets Health Minister, lauds Tinubu over FMC Kumo approval

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday met with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, in Abuja to strengthen partnerships and attract federal support for healthcare development in the state.

During the meeting, Governor Yahaya expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the conversion of the General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

He described the upgrade as a transformative move that would significantly enhance healthcare delivery, not only in Gombe but across the North East region.

“I am deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the conversion of General Hospital Kumo to a Federal Medical Centre. This development will be a game-changer, increasing access to quality healthcare, reducing medical tourism, and creating a robust medical workforce,” Yahaya stated.

He also commended Minister Pate for his leadership and support, acknowledging the minister’s role in advancing healthcare initiatives nationwide. Yahaya emphasized that the state’s investment in healthcare infrastructure aligns with the federal government’s commitment to improving medical services.

In response, Professor Pate praised Governor Yahaya’s commitment to healthcare development, noting that his administration’s proactive approach has significantly improved medical facilities in Gombe.

“I must commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to improving the healthcare sector in Gombe. His efforts in transforming healthcare facilities are commendable. This is a model of leadership that others should emulate,” Pate remarked.

The conversion of General Hospital Kumo into an FMC is expected to boost healthcare access in the state, improve service delivery, and expand medical training opportunities for health professionals in the region.
