Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has emphasized the importance of peer learning among states, describing it as a key strategy for advancing development and improving governance systems.

Governor Yahaya made the remarks during a state banquet held in honor of Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi and his cabinet members, who were in Gombe for a two-day executive retreat. He highlighted the potential of knowledge exchange among leaders to drive impactful governance.

“By learning from one another, our states can achieve remarkable progress. We have much to learn from Jigawa, just as Jigawa has much to learn from us,” Governor Yahaya said.

The Gombe governor also praised Governor Namadi’s leadership and his administration’s 12-point agenda, describing it as transformative for Jigawa State.

“Your Excellency, your 12-point agenda is clearly transforming Jigawa into a model state. I encourage you to remain focused despite any political distractions that may arise,” he stated.

As Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Governor Yahaya stressed the importance of unity, harmony, and social coexistence within the northern region, which occupies a significant portion of Nigeria’s landmass.

Governor Umar Namadi expressed admiration for Yahaya’s governance, calling Gombe State a benchmark for development and excellence under his leadership.

“Gombe State has become a reference point for us in Jigawa due to the remarkable transformation it has witnessed under your leadership,” Namadi said.

He commended Yahaya’s ability to manage governance challenges and noted the efficiency of his leadership in Gombe State and the Northern States Governors’ Forum.

“Your leadership, strategic vision, and mentorship remain a source of inspiration,” Namadi added.

Namadi also expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their three-day visit to Gombe.

The banquet featured cultural performances and the presentation of souvenirs to Governor Namadi, his Deputy, the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, the Chief of Staff, and the Secretary to the State Government.
