Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has commended the management of Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS) for its ongoing transformation drive, marked by the unveiling of 30 new intercity buses, the commissioning of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station, and the launch of the newly built Engr. Seyi Makinde Bus Terminal. The projects were executed in collaboration with Leyland Nigeria and Atlas Core Nigeria Ltd.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Makinde described the development as a major step toward modernizing Oyo State’s transport infrastructure. He noted that the new investments reflect his administration’s commitment to promoting cleaner energy alternatives, improving mobility, and enhancing commuter comfort across the state.

According to the governor, the introduction of the CNG-powered buses aligns with his government’s broader goals of environmental sustainability and economic efficiency. “These 30 new buses and the CNG station are not just vehicles or facilities; they represent a cleaner, smarter, and more reliable future for Oyo State,” he said.

Governor Makinde emphasized that the CNG station, the first of its kind in the state’s transport system, will serve as a cost-effective and eco-friendly fueling hub for Pacesetter buses. He expressed optimism that the initiative would help reduce operational costs, cut harmful emissions, and ultimately make transportation more affordable for residents.

The governor also inaugurated the new Engr. Seyi Makinde Bus Terminal, strategically located within Pacesetter’s headquarters. The modern facility boasts passenger-friendly features, including VIP and VVIP lounges, ticketing booths, waiting areas, and other amenities aimed at providing a world-class commuting experience.

Makinde praised the leadership of Dr. Dikko Salami, Chairman and Sole Administrator of Pacesetter Transport Services, for steering the company toward innovation and operational excellence. “The efforts of the management team, particularly under Chairman Dikko Salami, are commendable. They have not only enhanced our public transport infrastructure but also created a legacy that will benefit future generations,” he stated.

In his remarks, Dr. Salami expressed deep appreciation to Governor Makinde for his unwavering support and vision for a modern, sustainable transport system. He acknowledged that the governor’s political will and commitment made the projects possible, pledging that PTS would continue to uphold high standards in service delivery.

“These achievements are the result of an enabling environment created by His Excellency,” Dr. Salami said. “We are grateful for the trust reposed in us and remain dedicated to advancing Oyo’s transport sector in line with the governor’s vision for progress and sustainability.”
