Group rebut OSICOL mismanagement allegations against APC governorship candidate Oyebamiji

A political support group, the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts have rebutted allegations by the Osun State Government that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate mismanaged the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL) during his tenure as Managing Director.

The rebuttal followed claims by the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who listed 23 reasons Oyebamiji is not fit to be governor of the state, among which was the alleged mismanagement of state resources while heading the state-owned investment company.

Rasheed alleged that the APC candidate mishandled state properties in Lagos and Abuja during his time at OSICOL, as well as authorised the sale of Osun’s holdings in Omoluabi while he was Commissioner for Finance.

However, the AMBO Media Fronts, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, insisted that Oyebamiji did not mismanage the resources of OSICOL but instead revived the organisation after he was appointed in 2011.

According to Adedeji, within five years the company’s fortunes rose to over N6 billion, while its investment portfolio expanded through the construction of more than 30 flats in Abuja and Lagos, as well as the establishment of an NNPC Mega Station, which remains a major source of internally generated revenue for the current administration.

The group also countered the allegation linking Oyebamiji to the sale of Omoluabi Holdings, saying the transaction was supervised by the then Commissioner for Finance, Dr Wale Bolorunduro, who now serves as the Economic Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Adedeji added that if there were credible allegations of wrongdoing against the APC governorship candidate, the Adeleke administration had nearly four years to investigate and prosecute him.

“It is a clear indictment of Governor Ademola Adeleke and his team to now claim that Bola Oyebamiji was involved in any financial impropriety when they have had almost four years to investigate and prosecute him if there were credible grounds. This only exposes how hollow and morally bankrupt the Adeleke government has been,” he said.
