The Civil Society Organizations Strategy Group on Sustainable Development Goals (CSOSG–SDGs), Osun State Chapter, has urged political parties in the state to place peace and transparency above personal ambition as they prepare for their governorship primaries ahead of the 2026 election.

In a statement signed by the State Coordinator and Executive Director of the Development Watch Network, Comrade Abdulgaffar Akin, political actors were reminded that the credibility of the 2026 governorship election begins with how they manage their internal party affairs.

The organization commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), under the leadership of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Agboke, for its proactive engagement with stakeholders ahead of the polls.

It stated that the CSOs fully align with INEC’s call for peaceful, inclusive, and transparent electoral processes in Osun State.

The statement reaffirmed that the group will partner with INEC and political parties to enhance voter education and civic awareness, as well as promote peaceful political participation and discourage electoral violence or malpractice.

The group also pledged to monitor party primaries and subsequent electoral activities to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, and democratic principles.
