PHOTO NEWS: Akande, Aiyedatiwa, Sanwo-Olu, Alaafin lead South-West leaders to citizen-government dialogue in Akure

Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State; Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and prominent traditional rulers from Yorubaland led other stakeholders to a citizen-government summit in Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday.
Among the ministers who presented the scorecards of President Bola Tinubu’s administration were the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Verheijen; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; and Minister of State for Health, Adekunle Salako.

The event was organised by Afenifere and the DAWN Commission.
Also present at the event were deputy governors, former governors, first-class traditional rulers — including the Alaafin of Oyo, Alake of Egbaland, Soun of Ogbomoso, Olowo of Owo, Osemawe of Ondo, and Deji of Akure — as well as heads of federal agencies, former ministers, National Assembly members, religious leaders, youth representatives, market women, politicians, APC chieftains, and civil society groups.

Chief Bisi Akande first led a courtesy visit to the residence of the Yoruba leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. Pa Fasoranti’s residence is perhaps the most visited private residence in Yorubaland because of his pre-eminent status as a leader. President Tinubu, First Lady Remi Tinubu, governors, politicians of various persuasions, business leaders, and religious leaders regularly visit Baba.
Baba Fasoranti is the last of his contemporaries who were part of the struggle for Nigeria’s independence and a devoted disciple of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He was one of the architects of free education in the Western Region.
The summit continues tomorrow.
