Newly unveiled Super Eagles coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, has been assured of full support from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC).

The assurances were given by the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and the NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, during the unveiling ceremony of the tactician in Abuja on Monday.

Gusau, while urging Nigerians to support Chelle, promised that the football-governing body would provide the coach with all the necessary backing to succeed in his assignment.

The NFF president expressed confidence in the former Malian coach, praising his enthusiasm and determination to turn around the Super Eagles’ fortunes in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.

“I see in the new head coach the right spirit and attitude, and I have faith he will take the Super Eagles to the next level. He views leading the Super Eagles as his dream job, and that itself is a huge motivation.

“Coach Chelle recognizes and appreciates the challenges ahead and has expressed his love for the task. We will be there to give him the necessary support all the way,” Gusau said.

Gusau revealed that Chelle had signed a two-year contract, with an option for an additional year if he qualifies the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. Chelle, who arrived with three assistants, will work with the existing coaching team to enhance the Super Eagles’ brand. His involvement with the Super Eagles B, preparing for the 8th African Nations Championship, will be supervisory.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, in his remarks, reiterated the NSC’s support for the Franco-Malian coach, expressing satisfaction with the recruitment process conducted by the NFF.

“Football is a unifying factor for all Nigerians, bringing tremendous joy. We are satisfied with the process that led to Mr. Chelle’s appointment and will support the NFF in creating a conducive environment for him to perform his duties.

“The task of earning a World Cup ticket is a collective effort. The government is fully ready to provide support, not by taking over the NFF’s responsibilities but by providing necessary resources. I wish Coach Chelle the very best in his job,” Dikko stated.

With these assurances, Chelle is set to embark on his mission to restore the Super Eagles to glory, with both the NFF and NSC pledging their unwavering support.
