Handball: Nigeria begins African Nations Cup campaign against Algeria

Nigeria’s national handball team, the Golden Arrows, will tomorrow begin their campaign at the Men’s African Nations Cup holding in Rwanda.

The Nigerian contingent arrived early on Tuesday in Kigali, with the President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr Jibril Saidu Ojih, leading the delegation.

Team Nigeria is made up of tested professionals drawn from various clubs at home and abroad.

The stars include Yusuf Faruk (Limoges, France), Hakem Salami (Widad Samara, Morocco), Suleimon Azeez (Limoges, France), Olatinde Adamulegbe (Qatar Sports Club, Qatar), Cole Gbenga Rotibi (Club Mouloudia, Morocco) and Mohammed Mustapha (Rima Strikers, Nigeria).

The team, coached by Rafiu Salami, will make its 16th Nations Cup appearance, kicking off with a match against Algeria tomorrow at 1pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria’s other Group A opponents are Zambia and hosts Rwanda.
