Suspected thugs reportedly stormed the Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday amid the ongoing moves to remove the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, from office.
The incident, which occurred in the morning, caused tension within the assembly complex as the suspected hoodlums allegedly moved from one office to another.
According to assembly workers, the men were allegedly from Ondo township, which is part of the constituency represented by the embattled speaker.
A staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the suspected thugs appeared to have no official assignment within the complex.
The source said the situation was eventually brought under control after the intervention of a lawmaker, Olajide Oguntodu, other members of the assembly and security personnel.
The development came as the assembly remained embroiled in an impeachment crisis involving Oladiji.
The reported invasion has heightened concerns over security at the legislative complex as the political crisis surrounding the leadership of the House of Assembly continues.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the assembly or the state government on the alleged invasion.
