Human rights lawyer, Aborisade, eyes Oyo governorship seat in 2027

A prominent lawyer and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Niyi Aborisade, has declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections.

Aborisade, a seasoned human rights activist, made the declaration on Wednesday during a meeting with party members and supporters in Egbeda Local Government Area of Ibadan.

He expressed readiness to lead with integrity, competence, and a clear development agenda, stressing that his ambition is driven by a desire to effect positive change in the state.

“I’m up to the task. I want to move this state forward and ensure that Oyo becomes one of the best in the country. I have what it takes to make Oyo State better,” he said.

Aborisade also commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership and pledged to build on his achievements if elected. He promised to consolidate on the governor’s legacy for the benefit of all residents.

“As a human rights activist for over 30 years, I have consistently advocated for good governance. Now is the time to deliver it directly to the people,” he added.

He expressed confidence in his chances of clinching the PDP ticket, describing himself as the most qualified candidate for the job.

Aborisade’s declaration adds to the list of aspirants preparing for the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
