Husband dumps wife, newborn twins; Ondo govt steps in

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, has come to the rescue of a mother of newborn twins allegedly abandoned by her husband in Akure.
The plight of the woman was brought to the attention of the Commissioner by the Deputy Director of Planning, Mrs Opeyemi Omowole, who revealed that the husband had absconded, leaving her to care for the infants alone.
Moved by the report, Dr Osamaye immediately intervened by providing relief to the distressed mother, ensuring that the babies received support.
According to her, the intervention reflects the state government’s commitment to protecting women and children facing hardship and abandonment.
She explained that the Ministry of Women Affairs is strengthening welfare structures and creating emergency response channels to enable struggling families to access help quickly.
Dr Osamaye also urged residents to report cases of abuse, neglect or abandonment, stressing that the Aiyedatiwa-led administration is determined to safeguard vulnerable groups across the state.
The mother, overwhelmed with gratitude, described the Commissioner’s swift response as a demonstration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to uplifting women and children in distress.
