‘I have done all for peace to reign,’ Fubara expresses frustration over ongoing crisis
…vows commitment to peace
Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara, has expressed deep frustration over the ongoing unrest in the state, stating that he has done everything within his power to restore peace.
The governor, who has been at the forefront of efforts to calm tensions, made it clear in a candid interview on Channels TV’s Monday Politics, that peace remains his top priority.
When asked by the interviewer if there was one thing he would be willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace, the governor responded, “There’s nothing I haven’t done for peace to reign. I could name names, but for some reasons, let me leave it at that. I’ve knelt down countless times, pleading for us to resolve these issues. But I don’t want to dwell on that.”
He emphasized his continued commitment to finding a peaceful resolution, adding, “As of today, if there’s anything I can do to achieve peace, I assure you I am ready. Peace is very important to me, and all I want is for Rivers State to return to normalcy.”
Despite his administration’s efforts in development and infrastructure, the governor lamented that these achievements are often overshadowed by negative news.
“With all the wonderful projects we’re doing in the state, they go unnoticed. People only hear about crises from Rivers State, and it’s frustrating. We are doing important work, but it’s not being recognized.”
In a concerning revelation, the governor shared that he had received reports that some individuals close to him are being targeted for arrest.
“I just got word that certain people, because of their proximity to me, have been marked for arrest. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were declared wanted tomorrow,” he added, expressing unease about the possible developments.
