I remain fully aligned with Tinubu’s administration — Lai Mohammed

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has dismissed claims that he has been silent on national affairs, insisting he remains an active supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mohammed made the clarification in Owo, Ondo State, on Friday after delivering the 15th convocation lecture of Achievers University titled “Don’t Just Graduate, Innovate.”

“I am a very loyal member of the APC, and I am 100 per cent behind this administration. But I have played my role in the frontline. Whatever I need to do now, I will pass through the back channel, but I’m 100 per cent behind the administration. I have been privileged to serve as the longest Minister of Information, and what I’m doing now is to give back to society,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to support the President, stressing that efforts to combat insecurity require collective involvement and public cooperation.

Addressing the graduands, Mohammed said academic qualifications alone do not determine success, noting that the journey toward career fulfilment demands courage, innovation and resilience.

He also advised the fresh graduates to embrace humility, take necessary risks and remain focused on their aspirations.

“I urge the graduating class not to be afraid to fail. Failures are not dead ends; they are turning points. I failed and failed, and each time, the failures became turning points for me,” he said.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, and Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic standards and discipline as preparations for the convocation and conferment of honorary degrees progressed.
