‘I sleep and wake thinking about Tinubu’s re-election’ — Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is a major priority for him, expressing confidence that the president will secure more votes in Rivers State than he did in 2023.

Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, according to a report by TheCable newspaper.

The former Rivers governor urged residents to support Tinubu at the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as the administration’s developmental projects and appointments of Rivers indigenes into key government positions.

He said Tinubu’s chances of winning the next election were stronger than they were in 2023.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.

The minister urged Rivers voters to set aside political sentiments and support the president based on what he described as the benefits the state had received from the administration.

“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments,” he said.

Wike added: “I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it.”
