‘Tinubu has done well, saved Bauchi from being overrun by bandits’ — Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its economic reforms and security interventions, saying the measures have had a significant impact on the state.
Mohammed spoke on Monday when the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, visited Bauchi on a courtesy call.
The governor, who is a member of the opposition Allied Peoples Movement, said the Federal Government’s response to insecurity had helped restore peace to communities previously affected by banditry.
He specifically commended Tinubu for establishing military battalions in Alkaleri and Tafawa Balewa local government areas.
“I want to really affirm our gratitude to President Tinubu, especially in the area of security. He has just established two battalions, one in Alkaleri and another one in Tafawa Balewa,” Mohammed said.
He recalled that he had appealed to the President for federal intervention when insecurity threatened communities in the state, adding that Tinubu responded despite their political differences.
“When we were almost overrun by bandits, nobody was coming to our aid. I went to him, and he responded in spite of my being in the opposition,” he said.
According to the governor, the Federal Government subsequently deployed a high-powered security contingent involving the National Security Adviser, the armed forces and other security agencies.
Mohammed said the intervention had enabled displaced residents to return to their communities and resume farming activities.
