Ibadan celebrates as former governor Ladoja crowned Olubadan

The Oyo State capital, Ibadan, was on Friday thrown into jubilation as dignitaries and eminent personalities converged on the ancient city for the coronation of Senator Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of the state, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Among the early arrivals were Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun State, and his successor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who joined other distinguished guests to witness the historic ceremony.

The coronation drew national attention, attracting political leaders, traditional rulers, and prominent figures from across the country, all gathered to honour Ladoja as he formally ascended the revered throne of the Olubadan.

Residents hailed the event as a landmark occasion in Ibadan’s history, highlighting its significance in preserving the city’s rich cultural heritage.

From major markets to inner neighbourhoods, the atmosphere was festive, with indigenes and residents celebrating in pride and anticipation as their new monarch assumed the ancient stool.
