By Adejayan Gbenga –

The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Lawal, has announced that the upgraded Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan is expected to be ready for aircraft take-off and landing within the next two to three weeks.

Lawal made the disclosure during an inspection of the airport and the ongoing Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project, describing both as “legacy projects” that reflect Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth.

According to the Acting Governor, about 75 to 76 percent of the airport upgrade has been completed.

The remaining work includes runway marking, installation of an instrument landing system for night operations, and finishing touches on the runway extensions.

Lawal also commended the progress on the 32.5-kilometre East Wing of the Circular Road, emphasizing the government’s dedication to quality execution and continued engagement with contractors to ensure timely completion.
