Senator Ekwunife disowns allegations against Soludo’s wife, tenders apology

Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming November 8 election in Anambra State, has distanced herself from damaging allegations recently attributed to her regarding Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo.

The most controversial of the claims was a rumour alleging that the First Lady had a child with Anambra billionaire, Chief Chris Uba. The allegation, which spread rapidly online, prompted a sharp reaction from Mrs. Soludo, who publicly denied the claim and declared her readiness to undergo a DNA test.

In a statement issued by her campaign team, Senator Ekwunife disowned the publication and condemned the content as false and malicious. The statement was signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Ezike.

“The attention of Sen. Uche Ekwunife has been drawn to an article falsely attributed to her camp, alleging that Mrs. Nonye Soludo had children for Chief Chris Uba,” the statement read. “Senator Ekwunife categorically states that the said publication did not emanate from her or her camp.”

While acknowledging that she had also been a target of verbal attacks, Ekwunife emphasized that her political differences with the Soludo administration do not justify the spread of falsehoods. She expressed deep regret over the fallout caused by the rumours.

“She further wishes to apologize to the Governor, his wife, and the general public who may have been affected by the altercations of the past few days,” the statement added.

The APC candidate went on to urge her supporters to avoid engaging in or amplifying media content that could be seen as confrontational or defamatory, especially toward the First Family.
