The chairmen of the eleven local governments in Ibadanland have paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, pledging their total loyalty and support ahead of his coronation.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of Oyo State ALGON, Hon. Sikiru Sanda Lajue, visited the former governor at his residence on Friday. The visit was described as a show of solidarity with the incoming monarch, whose coronation is scheduled for September 26, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, Hon. Sanda described the meeting as both historic and symbolic, coming at a time Ibadanland is preparing to install its new Olubadan. He praised the Olubadan succession system as one of the most peaceful and unique traditional institutions in the world.
He assured the monarch of the unwavering support of all eleven local government chairmen, stressing that they would continue to uphold the values of the traditional council while working closely with the palace for the progress of Ibadanland.
“As chairmen, we remain committed to supporting our revered monarch and to replicating Governor Seyi Makinde’s good governance mantra for the progress and development of Ibadanland,” Sanda said.
The chairmen also expressed optimism that Oba Ladoja’s reign would bring peace, unity, and development across Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole. According to them, the new Olubadan is well positioned to further strengthen the cultural and traditional heritage of the ancient city.
They prayed for the monarch’s long life, wisdom, and a prosperous reign that would leave lasting legacies for generations to come.
