Markets in Ibadan will be shut from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday as a sign of honour for the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who will be buried the same day.
The Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekeen Abass, announced the directive on Thursday, describing it as a mark of respect for the 43rd Olubadan’s decades of service to the nation, Oyo State, and Ibadan.
He noted that the late monarch played a vital role in maintaining peace and fostering a business-friendly environment for traders.
Abass urged market leaders to ensure strict compliance with the closure and encouraged traders to offer prayers for the monarch’s soul.
He also prayed for the late Olubadan’s eternal rest and for strength for his family during this period of mourning.
