Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended the curfew imposed on the warring communities of Ilobu and Ifon to Erin-Osun town following the escalation of the crisis.
The curfew, initially set for 12 hours daily, has now been extended to a 24-hour restriction until further notice.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the Governor has directed security agencies to ensure strict compliance with the curfew to restore peace.
According to the statement, the measure was necessary to prevent further violence and maintain law and order in the affected communities.
Governor Adeleke expressed disappointment over the renewed clashes in Ifon-Ilobu, which have now spread to Erin-Osun.
“To curb the crisis, the Governor has approved the extension of the curfew to Erin-Osun, effective immediately (March 22, 2025). The curfew will now run for 24 hours daily until further notice,” the statement read.
The Governor also directed a joint security team—including the Nigerian Army, Police, Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps, NDLEA, and Amotekun—to maintain round-the-clock surveillance and prevent further unrest.
Adeleke extended his sympathies to those who have lost lives and property in the crisis and assured that perpetrators would be brought to justice.
