IGP appoints Shogunle, Ogarashi to lead key security squads

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) Abayomi Shogunle as the head of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), Elections Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and the Safe School Protection Squad.

In addition, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Chima Ogarashi has been named the new Force Marine Officer (FMO) to oversee inland waterway security operations.

CP Shogunle, a seasoned law enforcement officer with extensive experience in operations and public relations, will lead the SIS in tackling various security challenges across the country.

His additional role in election security planning and safe school initiatives highlights the Force’s commitment to protecting critical institutions and democratic processes.

CSP Ogarashi, with a background in maritime security and law enforcement, will be responsible for policing Nigeria’s waterways and strengthening safety measures along the nation’s coastlines and rivers.

His appointment comes as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) takes delivery of 25 newly acquired gunboats, with plans to procure additional maritime safety equipment to boost operations.
