IGP commissions ultra-modern police headquarters in Yola

…pledges enhanced security in Adamawa

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Thursday commissioned the newly constructed ultra-modern Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters in Yola, marking a significant step in improving security infrastructure and operational efficiency in the state.

During his official tour, the IGP also inspected various police formations in Adamawa, assessing their operational effectiveness and the welfare of personnel. He emphasized that the new command headquarters would provide a conducive working environment for officers and bolster the fight against crime.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, IGP Egbetokun urged officers of the Adamawa Command to sustain the existing synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to combat insecurity in the state and across the country. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring a safer Nigeria.

As part of his engagements, the IGP paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola. The governor commended the IGP for his commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting the positive impact of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and stability.

Governor Fintiri requested the establishment of an additional Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base and the reopening of the Police Training School in Mbaba, Yola South Local Government Area, to enhance security operations against insurgency and banditry in the region.

In response, IGP Egbetokun assured the governor and the people of Adamawa of the Force’s commitment to proactive policing, community partnership, and intelligence-driven security strategies. He stated that the governor’s requests would be given due consideration in line with the Force’s strategic security and training framework.

The IGP also visited the Palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness, Dr. Muhammad Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, where he expressed gratitude for the traditional ruler’s support in combating crime. He urged the Lamido to continue offering prayers for the success of the Nigeria Police Force and the nation.

Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to modernization, personnel welfare, and the use of advanced technology in crime prevention, IGP Egbetokun stated that the commissioning of the new command headquarters represents a milestone in strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing security operations nationwide.
