IGP Disu calls for coordinated security efforts during NSCDC visit

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday called for coordinated security efforts among agencies during a courtesy visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abuja.
The visit, described as the first of its kind, was aimed at reinforcing existing ties and enhancing cooperation in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.
Addressing the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers of the Corps, Disu said the engagement was a deliberate effort to deepen synergy between both organisations.
He stressed that the police and the NSCDC share the responsibility of safeguarding lives and property, noting that closer cooperation would improve their effectiveness in addressing security threats.
Disu urged both agencies to work together by sharing intelligence and coordinating operations, especially in the face of evolving security challenges across the country.
“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front to achieve lasting peace,” he said.
In his response, Audi reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the Corps has maintained a long-standing working relationship with the police.
He emphasised the need for improved coordination among security agencies and called on citizens to play an active role in supporting security efforts by providing timely and useful information.
