Ikugbayigbe joins Egbe-Idimu chairmanship race, assures development

Ahead of the July 12, 2025 Local Government elections in Lagos State, Elder Comrade Femi Ikugbayigbe has officially declared his intention to contest for the Chairmanship seat of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

In a statement released by his media team, Ikugbayigbe, a respected administrator and public affairs analyst, expressed his readiness to build on the developmental strides of past and present council leaders.

He specifically acknowledged the impactful leadership of the current Executive Chairman, Hon. Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo (KSO), and praised the efforts of former Chairmen, Hon. Waheed Adebayo Bello (Sunshine), and HRM Oba Ashimiyu Okikiade Adebowale Atanda Olorunfemi, Kudaki Obalufon 1, Dada Otta.

“I will uphold and enhance the foundational work of KSO, Sunshine and Oba Ashimiyu,” Ikugbayigbe vowed, reaffirming his dedication to sustaining the progress already made in the LCDA.

Appealing to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the ward, constituency, and state levels, Ikugbayigbe urged the party to consider his over two decades of active service and loyalty.

He highlighted his consistent contributions to the growth of the party, pledging to remain committed to its progressive ideals.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) recently released the timetable for the local council polls, which will see elections into 57 chairmanship positions across 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), along with 376 councillorship seats.

A rerun is scheduled for July 19, 2025, while official campaign activities are expected to begin on April 18 and conclude on July 9, 2025.
