INEC releases polling, collation agent data for Ondo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the summary of polling and collation agents submitted by political parties for the 2024 Ondo State governorship election, following the closure of its submission portal.

According to a statement released on Friday, the portal, which opened on 20th August 2024, closed automatically at midnight on Monday, 30th September 2024, in line with the Timetable and Schedule of Activities issued for the election in September 2023.

Ondo State is set to hold elections across 3,933 polling units and 222 collation centres, comprising 203 ward centres, 18 Local Government centres, and the state collation centre in Akure.

Political parties fielding candidates are required to nominate 4,155 agents in total. With 18 political parties participating, INEC expected a cumulative total of 74,790 agents.

However, only 24,148 agents were uploaded to the portal, representing just 32.3% of the expected number. The agents consist of 22,689 polling agents, 1,249 ward agents, 196 Local Government agents, and 14 state collation agents.
