Injury knocks out Flying Eagles’ midfielder from WAFU B final

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will aim to defend their sub-regional WAFU B U-20 championship on Wednesday night in Lome, Togo, without defensive midfielder Sabiu Ibrahim, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury.
The Nigerian U-20 side will battle their Ghanaian counterparts in the grand finale of the championship.
The Niger Tornadoes star was not part of Monday’s recovery training, which lasted an hour.
He missed Sunday’s semi-final win over Niger after suffering the injury in the decisive Group B match against Côte d’Ivoire.
A team official confirmed, “He is out of the final as well.”
It remains to be seen whether coach Aliyu Zubairu will again take the gamble of starting El Kanemi Warriors attacking midfielder Suleyman Alabi ‘Jojo’ in a defensive midfield role or if Raphael Oyebanjo, a defensive midfielder by trade, will start against Ghana.
