Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has celebrated women globally on the occasion of the 2025 International Women’s Day, recognizing their resilience, creativity, and the joy they bring to society.
In a statement personally signed on Saturday in Ilorin, the governor praised women as key stakeholders in development, social cohesion, and progress. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and initiatives that protect their rights and provide equitable opportunities.
“The theme of this year’s celebration is Accelerate Action, and I believe Kwara has lived up to this—while aiming to do more. From making history with a female-majority cabinet in 2019 to enacting a law guaranteeing at least 35% affirmative action in government appointments, we continue to champion gender inclusivity,” he said.
AbdulRazaq also highlighted the implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law, ensuring a safer environment for women and girls. Additionally, he noted the state’s participation in the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program to enhance girls’ education.
“On this special day, I reaffirm my commitment to empowering women and creating more opportunities for them to thrive. Happy International Women’s Day!” the statement concluded.
