Jibrin blasts NNPP after expulsion, says party undermines members’ value
By Kunle Sanni –
House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has lashed out at his former party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), following his expulsion, accusing it of failing to recognize the political value of its members and neglecting due process.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State described his removal as a “rude shock,” saying it came without fair hearing.
“The party does not believe anybody has political value and comes short in treating people with the respect they deserve at various levels. This case is a clear instance,” Jibrin declared.
He explained that his expulsion was linked to remarks he made during recent interviews, which he insisted were consistent with the core principles of the NNPP. Jibrin said that rather than punish him, the party should have drawn lessons from his comments.
The Kano politician also addressed claims of unpaid dues, stressing that he never refused to meet his obligations and was ready to settle any outstanding payments once formally notified. He appealed for a decorous separation, cautioning against personal attacks and insults.
Despite his grievances, Jibrin expressed gratitude for his time in the NNPP, noting that he was proud of his contributions to the party’s growth. He said he bore no grudges against members who remain in the party and assured that his political relationships would continue across levels.
Looking ahead, Jibrin said he would carefully weigh his options before deciding on his next political move. “I welcome my supporters who wish to join me in my new journey. But for those who choose to remain in NNPP, I hold no grudges. I will carefully weigh all the options before me as I decide on my next political home. So help me God,” he stated.
