Jigawa disburses over N1.5bn to 569 retirees under contributory pension scheme

The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has disbursed over N1.5 billion to 569 retirees across the state.
At the disbursement event held at the Pension House on Monday, the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, described the state’s pension model as one of the best in the country. He noted that more than 20 states have visited Jigawa to study its approach.
Dagaceri commended Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for his unwavering support and commitment to improving the welfare of retirees through the pension scheme. He said the governor’s efforts have positively impacted both pensioners and the civil service.
He urged retirees and active civil servants to continue praying for the government to achieve its goals and to appreciate the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
Executive Secretary of the Pension Board, Dr. Binyaminu Shitu Aminu, announced that a total sum of N1,505,449,327.78 would be distributed. He explained that the payments include retirement benefits, death benefits, and death pension balances.
Dr. Aminu disclosed that of the 569 beneficiaries, 287 were from state service, 158 from local governments, and 124 from Local Education Authorities (LEAs). The breakdown includes N875.6 million for state retirees, N355 million for local government retirees, and N274.8 million for LEA beneficiaries.
He emphasized the Board’s commitment to timely disbursement of entitlements, including the regular payment of monthly pensions during the first week of each month. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring a secure and dignified life for retirees.
