Jigawa govt partner Indian firm on poultry farming

The Jigawa State government says it is strengthening efforts to expand the state’s poultry industry through a new partnership with India’s Srinivasa Farms Pvt. Ltd., as part of ongoing initiatives to attract agricultural investment and boost food production.

Governor Malam Umar Namadi made this known on Monday while receiving a high-level technical delegation from the company at the Government House in Dutse over the weekend.

He said the engagement builds on the state’s earlier investment mission to India in May 2025, which opened discussions on strategic collaboration in agriculture, particularly poultry development.

“This is a return visit following our earlier engagement in India, where we explored partnerships in several areas, including poultry development. This is the fourth group from India visiting us as a direct outcome of that trip,” Namadi said.

As part of their visit, the Indian delegation is conducting a four-day technical assessment across Kazaure, Gumel, Hadejia, and Dutse, where they are evaluating poultry facilities and identifying areas of possible collaboration, including the establishment of a modern hatchery and feed mill.

Governor Namadi said the proposed partnership aligns with his administration’s drive to create jobs, improve rural livelihoods, and increase internally generated revenue through agribusiness development.

“We are deliberately building a sustainable poultry value chain that benefits all citizens. This collaboration will be a win-win situation, with direct benefits to poultry farmers across Jigawa State,” he added.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Senthil Kumar Krishnan, Vice President of Srinivasa Farms Pvt. Ltd., said the company brings over 60 years of experience in poultry production and related services across multiple countries.
