JUST IN: Female farmer killed by suspected assailants in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –
A female farmer, Mrs. Rabiat Atere, has been gruesomely murdered by unknown attackers while working on her farm in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victim, a native of Uba in Oka-Akoko, was reportedly attacked on Monday during routine farming activities. Her lifeless body was later recovered and deposited at a morgue in Iwaro-Oka.
Confirming the incident, a community source said, “Her body was discovered on the farm and has been taken to the mortuary.”
The killing has sparked outrage among residents, especially the Akoko Youth Forum (AYF), who described the act as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement, the AYF National President, Ibukun-Oluwa Akeju, condemned the attack and alleged that the crime was committed by suspected Fulani assailants. He expressed concern over rising insecurity in the area and the lack of immediate security response.
“It is alarming that after the police evacuated her remains, no security presence has been established. Residents are now living in fear,” Akeju said, urging security agencies and government authorities to swiftly investigate, bring the perpetrators to justice, and restore safety to the community.
