JUST IN: Former Ondo lawmaker dies, APC mourns
By Boye Oyeyemi –
A former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Cecilia Fayase, has died.
She passed away early Saturday, shortly after celebrating her Platinum Jubilee.
Fayase, who represented Ondo West Constituency 1 during her time in the Assembly, also served as a Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission.
Her death has been described by political figures and party stakeholders as a monumental loss.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo Kingdom called her passing “the end of an era,” highlighting her influence in shaping progressive politics in the state.
Parliamentary Secretary of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Otunba Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, paid tribute to the late lawmaker, describing her as a compassionate leader who uplifted others and championed women’s participation in politics.
“Mama Cecilia lived well. Her efforts in empowering the youth and supporting the less privileged will be remembered,” he said.
