JUST IN: Ondo moves to flush out kidnappers amid new abduction cases

By Boye Oyeyemi
The Ondo State Government has ordered an immediate clampdown on kidnapping syndicates following fresh cases of abduction in parts of the state.
The government said preliminary findings have revealed that some of the recent kidnap cases were allegedly aided by local collaborators bent on creating panic and damaging the state’s security reputation.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the administration described the trend as unacceptable and warned that perpetrators would face the full weight of the law.
It disclosed that security agencies had been directed to scale up intelligence gathering, intensify patrols and swiftly apprehend those linked to the criminal networks.
According to the statement, suspects arrested in connection with the incidents would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with due process.
The ministry also highlighted measures already taken to fortify security, including logistics support for operatives, the establishment of a modern crime control centre for the Ondo State Security Network Agency, and the recruitment of 500 additional personnel to boost response capacity.
Traditional rulers and residents were also urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
