JUST IN: Oyebanji sacks Ekiti directors-general, technical advisers

By Boye Oyeyemi

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has relieved all directors-general of government agencies and technical advisers in the state of their appointments with immediate effect, in a fresh shake-up of his administration.

The decision was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Yinka Oyebode.

According to the statement, all affected officials have been directed to submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government without delay.

The development comes a day after Oyebanji dissolved the state executive council, signalling a broader reorganisation of his administration as he moves to restructure the state government.

The statement said the latest decision concludes the disengagement of political appointees serving in the administration, except for a few whose appointments have been retained because of the nature of their duties.

The governor’s latest directive follows the dissolution of the state executive council and extends the ongoing changes to other categories of political appointees, including directors-general and technical advisers.

Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for their contributions to his administration and the development of Ekiti State. He also commended them for their support and commitment during their service.

The governor wished the affected officials success in their future endeavours as the state government proceeds with its reorganisation.
