JUST IN: Police confirm abduction of worshippers in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of six worshippers from a Celestial Church along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Uso.
Western Post had reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 12:50 a.m., when the victims were reportedly seized by unknown gunmen and taken to an undisclosed location.
However, the police said the command swiftly responded to the distress call, adding that operatives, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, launched coordinated rescue operations.
The police confirmed that one of the abducted worshippers has been successfully rescued following the joint security effort.
In addition, one suspect linked to the attack has been arrested.
The police said the suspect has provided useful information aiding ongoing investigations.
The command assured residents that security operations are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the remaining victims and to apprehend all perpetrators involved.
