The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four persons along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Irepo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan.
According to him, security operatives have launched coordinated search-and-rescue operations to secure the safe release of the victims, adding that the commissioner of police had also directed divisional police officers in Kishi and Igbeti, alongside other tactical teams, to deploy all necessary operational resources in rescuing the victims and arresting their abductors.
He further indicated that security operatives are currently combing nearby communities while intensifying intelligence gathering to track down the kidnappers.
The police assured residents that the command remains committed to ensuring public safety and urged members of the public to stay calm while providing useful information that could assist ongoing operations.
The development is coming after the command foiled a bandit attack at Elebe Village and prevented a kidnap attempt at Olorunda Village in Ojongbodu, Oyo West Local Government Area.
