Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has called on the South-East to go beyond passive support and fully align with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that the government has performed impressively since taking office.
Kalu made the call on Thursday during the launch of the Abia State headquarters of the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) Initiative in Umuahia—a grassroots political mobilisation effort aimed at integrating the region into mainstream politics and promoting continuity for the Tinubu-led government in 2027.

“The Tinubu-led government has performed quite impressively since inception,” Kalu said. “The South-East must show more than passive acceptance. It’s time to actively participate if we want to shape the future.”
He also announced plans to roll out targeted programmes to spread awareness of the administration’s achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda across every community in the region.
The RHP launch drew a wide range of political stakeholders and community leaders, many of whom expressed support for the initiative and its goals ahead of the 2027 general elections.
