Kano market fire: Tinubu sympathises with traders, orders probe

President Bola Tinubu has sympathised with traders and residents of Kano State following a devastating fire outbreak at Singer Market over the weekend, and has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The fire, which began on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, caused extensive damage to the popular food market.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu had earlier contacted Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to obtain a situation report on the incident.
Describing the development as tragic, the President expressed concern that the latest fire occurred less than two weeks after a previous blaze destroyed dozens of shops and goods at the same market.
Tinubu directed relevant authorities to carry out a thorough investigation into the recurring market fires, noting that such incidents often leave traders devastated and struggling to recover their livelihoods.
