Keep off Abuja restricted areas – Police warn Sowore ahead of protest
Police authorities have advised Omoyele Sowore and other protesters to steer clear of restricted areas during Monday’s planned agitation for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu.
In a press statement on Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin urged the protesters to respect the Federal High Court, Abuja Order, issued on 17th October by Justice M.G. Umar, barring them from staging protests in certain parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
They include Aso Rock Villa and its environs, the National Assembly Complex, Force Headquarters, the Court of Appeal, Eagle Square and Shehu Shagari Way.
The Force warned protesters—whether in support of or opposed to the ongoing agitation for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu—to adhere strictly to the provisions of the court order.
While acknowledging and upholding citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly within legal boundaries, the police vowed to take decisive actions against individuals or groups desirous of exploiting the protests to instigate violence.
