King Sunny Ade opens up about rumored romance with Onyeka Onwenu

Nigerian music legend King Sunny Ade, commonly called KSA, has shed light on long-standing rumors of an alleged romantic relationship with the late singer Onyeka Onwenu. During a recent condolence visit to the family of the late music icon, KSA finally addressed the speculation that has surrounded their relationship for years.

In his tribute, King Sunny Ade revealed that the rumors of an affair were part of a strategic move to promote their collaborative work, particularly the hit song “Wait for Me.” He explained that the notion of a romantic connection between them was deliberately left ambiguous to generate interest and buzz around their music.

“It was all a gimmick, a strategy for the music,” King Sunny Ade explained. “People used to think she was my girlfriend, but neither of us ever confirmed or denied it.”

Reflecting on his relationship with Onwenu, the music legend described her as an extraordinary woman who offered invaluable advice and unwavering support throughout their time together. “She was someone who would sit down with you and say, ‘Can I offer some advice?’ And her advice was always very insightful,” he fondly recalled.
