Major stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State have thrown their weight behind Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, declaring him the most suitable aspirant to lead the state as governor in the next political cycle.

The endorsement was announced at a press conference held in Ilorin on Saturday, where key party figures said their position followed extensive consultations and an objective assessment.

Addressing journalists on behalf of other key figures, Ladi Mustapha said the leaders believed that Kwara needed a leader with proven integrity, administrative competence and the ability to unite diverse interests, hence their support for Bolarinwa.

“After careful evaluation, Dr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa clearly stands out above other contenders for the office of governor. His track record in both public and private life reflects discipline, transparency and a deep sense of responsibility,” he said.

He also pointed to the aspirant’s political journey spanning over two decades, noting that he had served as a councillor, local government chairman in Lagos State, and a member of the House of Representatives, in addition to his role as Kwara APC chairman in 2018.

According to Mustapha, his experience across different levels of governance demonstrates resilience, competence and an exceptional ability to manage resources effectively.

The spokesman also disclosed that the stakeholders were particular about Bolarinwa’s educational background, describing his doctoral qualification as an added advantage in driving policy-based development and educational advancement in the state.

He further recalled the politician’s role in the 2019 “O To Ge” movement, noting that his grassroots mobilisation and strategic coordination contributed significantly to the party’s success, adding that his widespread acceptance across the three senatorial districts positions him as a unifying figure capable of bridging ethnic, religious and political divides.
