Kwara Govt directs residents to register with KWSRRA

The Kwara State Government has directed all residents to register with the state registration agency, emphasizing that its responsibilities to secure lives and property and plan for economic development rely on accurate data on every resident.

The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA), Tajudeen Jimoh, on Sunday in Ilorin.

According to the statement, the agency has been mandated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to register all residents of the state and issue them unique State Security Identification (SSID) numbers/cards.

“We are carrying out this directive across 96 registration centres in the state, with plans to establish more centres as the process continues,” Jimoh stated.

He added that the agency is collaborating with the Ministries of Education and Human Capital Development, Tertiary Education, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes, among others, to mobilize citizens for the exercise.

“As part of this initiative, parents, guardians, and students will be required to provide their unique SSID numbers when registering for exams, scholarships, grants, or social safety benefits. Additionally, students admitted to state-owned tertiary institutions must register as residents of the state. Individuals seeking government services will also need their SSID numbers. For example, students registering for common entrance examinations, JSS, SSCE, and other assessments will be required to provide their SSID numbers, along with those of their parents or guardians.”

The state has recently captured all government workers and pensioners in the database, marking progress in efforts to build a credible record of Kwara State residents.

The government emphasized that the initiative is crucial for security and economic planning, urging residents to support it for the general well-being of the state and effective data-driven governance.
