Kwara House of Assembly passes 25 bills in 2 years

The Kwara State House of Assembly (KWHA) has considered 25 bills and over 60 motions in the last two years.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, disclosed this during a plenary session marking the second anniversary of the 10th Legislature.
Danladi-Salihu stated that the House, under his leadership, has upheld key democratic principles of transparency, equity, and accountability in discharging its constitutional duties.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the 10th Assembly has so far considered 25 bills, 62 motions, 16 matters of general and urgent public importance, and 12 reports arising from various petitions received by the House,” he said.
He commended his colleagues for their people-oriented projects and activities in fulfillment of the campaign promises made to Kwarans. He urged them to remain conscious of their impact on the socio-economic status of their constituents.
The Speaker also appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his support and for respecting the independence of the three arms of government, which he noted has led to visible progress in the state.
Some of the bills passed include the Kwara State Water User Associations Bill, the Freedom of Information Bill, the University of Education Bill, and the University Teaching Hospital Bill.
Others are the Roads Fund and Administration Bill, the Rural Access Road Agency Bill, the Education Trust Fund (Amendment) Bill, the Environmental Protection Agency (Amendment) Bill, the Secret Cults and Societies (Prohibition) (Amendment) Bill, and the Prohibition of Kidnapping (Amendment) Bill, among others.
