Ahead of the Kwara State local government elections scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Customs Area Controller for the Kwara Area Command, Comptroller Faith Ojeifo, has called on officers deployed for election duty to remain neutral and professional throughout the exercise.
Addressing officers at the parade ground in Ilorin on Friday, Comptroller Ojeifo emphasized the need for Customs personnel to refrain from any political involvement, urging them to uphold their integrity and maintain impartiality during the election period.
“Our primary responsibility is to observe and support the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies assigned to ensure the smooth conduct of this election,” Ojeifo stated.
The comptroller issued a stern warning against bribery, cautioning officers to steer clear of any unethical behavior while on duty, and to adhere strictly to the principles of fairness and professionalism.
He further advised officers to perform their duties with diligence, responsibility, and a commitment to peace, reminding them of the importance of being unbiased and objective, regardless of any political affiliations.
