The Kwara State Government has announced a temporary shutdown of Harmony Transport Services Ltd (HTSL), popularly known as Kwara Express, in a bid to rejuvenate its transport sector.

The closure marks the start of an extensive restructuring process aimed at revitalizing the company’s operations and aligning it with modern standards of productivity and service.

According to a statement from the Corporate Affairs Unit of Harmony Holdings Ltd, the state agency overseeing government enterprises, all HTSL employees will receive full exit benefits as the restructuring begins.

The company expressed gratitude for the contributions of its employees and conveyed best wishes for their future endeavors, emphasizing that they are welcome to reapply when operations resume.

Harmony Holdings highlighted that the restructuring will include significant investments in modernizing the company’s fleet and infrastructure. The company stated that plans to integrate cutting-edge technology will enhance operational efficiency and customer experience, addressing long-standing issues that have affected the company’s stability and growth.

It further revealed that the need for this overhaul was highlighted by recent customer feedback, which pointed to a demand for improved service quality and consistency.

“This is a challenging but necessary decision,” Harmony Holdings stated, “as we strive to establish a sustainable framework for HTSL. The company has encountered recurring financial and operational difficulties in recent years, and this temporary closure is a critical step toward securing its future.”

The agency reassured the public that efforts are underway to expedite the restructuring process and minimize service disruptions.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause to our valued customers and are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible,” the statement added. “All measures are being implemented to ensure the company reopens stronger and better equipped to serve the people of Kwara State.”
